Black rhino
Rhino Ark was established in 1988 to help save Kenya’s black rhino population in the Aberdare ecosystem, under threat from poaching and conflict along the park boundary.
The Eastern Salient of Aberdare National Park had a high concentration of wildlife bordering farmland. Rhino Ark was formed specifically to assist Kenya Wildlife Service in building an electric fence there.
Rhino Ark’s published achievements state that 15 threatened species of mammals and birds are better protected, including black rhino in fenced Aberdare habitat.
