Kakamega Forest Fence
Protecting Kenya’s only tropical rainforest remnant: about 50 km of electrified fence reducing conflict and securing unique biodiversity.
Kakamega Forest is Kenya’s only remaining tropical rainforest remnant, a biodiversity hotspot linked biogeographically to the Congo Basin forests. Rhino Ark’s fence programme here forms part of the national electrified fence network protecting forest edges and neighbouring farms.
Around 50 km of fence has been built and maintained as part of Rhino Ark’s wider 853 km network. The work reduces crop-raiding, supports forest integrity, and engages adjacent communities in stewardship of a uniquely important Kenyan ecosystem.
