Aberdare Joint Surveillance Unit
Joint surveillance with Kenya Wildlife Service to combat wildlife crime, respond to wildfires, and protect the Aberdare Conservation Area.
The Aberdare Joint Surveillance Unit (AJSU) strengthens protection of the Aberdare Conservation Area through coordinated patrols, aerial support and rapid response with Kenya Wildlife Service.
The unit complements the electric fence network by addressing wildlife crime, illegal exploitation and wildfire threats inside the protected area, securing habitat for black rhino, mountain bongo and the wider forest ecosystem that feeds critical water catchments.
